New Delhi:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday emphasized India’s deep appreciation for its longstanding and historic relationship with Saudi Arabia, stating that bilateral ties have gained significant strategic depth and momentum in recent years.
In his departure statement ahead of a two-day visit to the Kingdom at the invitation of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, PM Modi highlighted the evolution of a mutually beneficial and substantive partnership between the two nations. This partnership spans key sectors such as defence, trade, investment, energy, and people-to-people exchanges.
“We share common interests and a strong commitment to promoting regional peace, prosperity, security, and stability,” the Prime Minister said. He noted that this marks his third visit to Saudi Arabia and his first to the historic city of Jeddah.
PM Modi said he looks forward to participating in the second meeting of the Strategic Partnership Council, building on the momentum generated by the successful state visit of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to India in 2023.
Referring to the Crown Prince as “my brother,” the Prime Minister underscored the personal warmth in their relationship.
He also expressed eagerness to engage with the vibrant Indian diaspora in Saudi Arabia, describing them as a “living bridge” between the two nations, and acknowledging their invaluable contribution to strengthening cultural and human ties.
