Sanjay Singh, a Rajya Sabha MP and senior AAP leader, claims on Saturday that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was not permitted to have face-to-face interactions with his family while he was being held in Tihar jail.
Speaking during a press conference, Singh stated, “CM Kejriwal’s morale is being targeted for disruption.”
“He has not permitted his family to meet with him in person. They can only get together with him via the jangla. This is not human. In-person meetings are permitted even for ardent criminals, according to the AAP chief.
The’mulakat jangla’ is a room within the jail where visitors and inmates are divided by an iron mesh. Sitting on opposite sides of the mesh allows a visitor and an inmate to converse with one another.
Many meetings take place in the same Tihar jail, but three-time elected chief minister Arvind Kejriwal is being humiliated and forced to meet his family through the jangla. The Central government, led by the BJP, is ordering this to happen,” Singh stated.
After spending more than six months in jail in connection with the Delhi excise policy case, the AAP leader was granted bail by the Supreme Court earlier this month. “His rights as an inmate are being snatched,” he said.
