Ahead of the general elections in 2024, Bollywood, the Indian Hindi film industry, has been producing films honoring Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his divisive Hindu nationalist policies. Heroes from Hinduism facing evil Muslims are akin to the divisive politics of the Modi administration. While visiting the northern province of Jammu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a loud shout-out for an upcoming Bollywood movie, barely two months before polling for the 2024 Indian general elections begin.
“I’ve heard that a film on this 370 issue might be released this week,” Modi said to his cheering followers, many of whom were brandishing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) banners.
