The president of the All India Congress Committee (AICC), Mallikarjun Kharge, declared that if the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) was voted to power, farmer loans would be waived and MSP would be guaranteed. This announcement came three days after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi attempted to court Punjab farmers here with promises of freebies if his party came to power. Additionally, he declared that the agriculture sector will no longer be subject to GST.
Speaking at a news conference in support of his party’s nominee, Gurjit Singh Aujla, in this location on Tuesday, Kharge criticized the Modi administration on the problem of farmers.
Using the slogan “Sabka Saath Sabka Satyanash” (assistance of everyone is taken for their devastation), he parodied the BJP’s “Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas” (development of all with support of everyone). To elaborate, he said that during the previous ten years, income has remained flat but inflation has continued to soar. The Agniveer program, which reduced the term of jawans in the armed forces, had disrupted recruitment in the military sector. Thirty lakh jobs were open in Central government departments, and they would be filled on a priority basis, he added.
