Different political parties had differing opinions about West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s offer to “cook food” for Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The BJP suspected a politicized purpose, while the CPI(M) suggested a possible “understanding” between the TMC and the BJP.
On Monday, Banerjee took a jab at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his recent claim that RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav consumed fish last month during a time when some Hindus refrain from eating non-vegetarian food. She said she was willing to “cook something for him (Modi)” if he requested it, though she wasn’t sure if he would consume it.
At an election rally in this area, Banerjee made the comments while criticizing the BJP for supposedly meddling in people’s eating habits. She expressed her willingness to prepare food for Modi, but she wasn’t sure “whether the PM will be ready to savour my cooked meal.” “I’ve been cooking since I was a young child. My food has been acclaimed by others. Will Modiji, though, accept my food? Does he think I’m trustworthy? “I’ll prepare any food he enjoys,” she had declared.
