In the Kanker area of Chhattisgarh, at least 29 Maoists were gun down in a confrontation with security forces, according to authorities on Tuesday.
The central police force stated in a statement that the BSF and the District Reserve Guard (DRG) jointly initiated a combined operation in the Binagunda region, which is under the jurisdiction of the Chotebetiya police station in Kanker, in response to particular intelligence inputs.
The rebels heavily fired upon the BSF squad during the operation. There was a serious gunfight when the BSF soldiers returned fire at the assailants.
Following the clash, a comprehensive search of the region was carried out, during which 29 Maoist militants’ dead were found.
