A 23-year-old man was arrested at Goa’s Dabolim International Airport for sexually harassing a female co-passenger on an Air India flight from Delhi to Goa, officials confirmed on Wednesday. The incident occurred on Tuesday, between 11 am and 1:20 pm, during the flight.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), the victim, a 28-year-old woman from Janakpuri, New Delhi, reported that while the flight was airborne, the man seated next to her pulled a blanket over himself and engaged in inappropriate behavior. The man intentionally left one side of the blanket open next to the victim, exposing her to the objectionable act.
After the flight landed in Goa, the woman filed a formal complaint with the police. The accused, identified as Jitender Jangian from Panipat, Haryana, was arrested by the Dabolim airport police. A case was registered against him under sections 75 (sexual harassment) and 79 (actions intended to insult a woman’s modesty, including verbal insults, inappropriate gestures or objects, and privacy invasion) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
This arrest highlights ongoing concerns about passenger safety and inappropriate behavior on flights, with airlines and authorities taking strict actions against such incidents.
