A dense fog blanketed North India on Friday morning, drastically reducing visibility to near zero and causing significant disruptions. In the past few weeks, this fog has led to numerous flight and train delays and cancellations across the region. On Friday, more than 100 flights at Delhi Airport were delayed due to the weather conditions.
At 5:04 am, IndiGo urged passengers to check flight statuses before heading to the airport, while Delhi Airport operator DIAL posted an update at 5:52 am, informing passengers that flights compliant with Category III (CAT III) Instrument Landing Systems could still operate despite the dense fog. CAT III compliance allows aircraft to land and take off in low visibility conditions.
Flight tracking website Flightradar.com reported delays for over 100 flights at the airport. DIAL recommended passengers contact their airlines directly for the latest updates and apologized for the inconvenience caused by the weather.
In light of the foggy conditions, IndiGo advised passengers to allow extra time for travel to the airport, as the poor visibility was slowing down traffic.
