PM Modi Unveils New ‘Arsenal of Reforms’ to Propel India’s Growth

Date:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his address at The Economic Times World Leaders Forum on Saturday, pledged to introduce an “arsenal of reforms” aimed at accelerating India’s economic growth. Building on his Independence Day announcement regarding the overhaul of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) by Diwali and the passage of the Income Tax Bill, 2025, Modi reiterated his government’s commitment to continuous reform.

“It is not in my nature to be satisfied with what we have already achieved. We are always preparing for the future. Our reforms are not just about today, but about building a better tomorrow,” Modi stated. He emphasized that the government’s approach to reform is forward-looking, with a focus on making India more competitive on the global stage.

The Prime Minister explained that the next-generation reforms would be designed to boost manufacturing, energize various industries, stimulate consumption, and create more jobs. He said these reforms would be transformative, targeting multiple sectors to ensure balanced and inclusive growth across the economy.

Addressing an audience of industry leaders, entrepreneurs, and thought leaders, Modi underscored the government’s efforts to simplify India’s business environment. This includes repealing outdated laws, digitizing procedures, and making regulatory approvals more efficient. In addition, his administration is focusing on decriminalizing several offences to reduce unnecessary bureaucratic hurdles and foster a more conducive environment for growth.

Modi also highlighted that these reforms are not just about streamlining processes but also about empowering the people of India, especially in terms of Ease of Doing Business and Ease of Living.

By taking these steps, he said, the government aims to foster innovation, enhance competitiveness, and position India as one of the world’s leading economic powers in the coming decades. The reforms, according to Modi, will lay the foundation for a strong, sustainable, and future-ready India.
