EC should not forget they are country’s EC not of Modi:-Rahul Gandhi

Date:

December 14:- Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday asserted that his party stands firmly with “satya (truth)” and vowed to remove what he described as the “Narendra Modi–RSS government”. Addressing the Congress’s ‘Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhod’ rally at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi, Gandhi launched a sharp attack on the Election Commission of India (ECI), alleging institutional bias in favour of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

In a rare move, Gandhi named Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi, accusing them of functioning as instruments of the BJP rather than as independent constitutional authorities. He alleged that democratic processes were being undermined and claimed that elections were no longer being conducted in a free and fair manner.

“The Congress stands with truth, and we will continue to fight to protect democracy and the Constitution of India,” Gandhi told the gathering, reiterating the party’s commitment to constitutional values and electoral transparency.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, also addressing the rally, accused the BJP and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) of attempting to weaken the Constitution. “In the name of Hindutva, these forces want to push the poor back into bondage,” Kharge alleged. He further said that the Congress played a decisive role in securing India’s Independence, asserting that the current leadership had no role in the freedom struggle.

The Congress leadership also announced that the party has collected nearly six crore signatures from across the country, alleging large-scale vote theft. These signatures, the party said, will be formally submitted to the President of India, seeking intervention to safeguard India’s democratic institutions.
