Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress party, submitted his nomination papers on Friday for the Rae Bareli Lok Sabha seat, which his mother Sonia Gandhi has held for the previous twenty years.
Congressmen Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra joined him.
Earlier in the day, Rahul Gandhi landed at the airport in Fursatganj. When he filed his paperwork at the collectorate, a big contingent of local party workers showed up.
On May 20, there will be voting for the Rae Bareli Lok Sabha seat.
